Congratulations Thushangi Pathiraja – Best CCBC Research Paper of the Year Awardee

TALES commends Thushangi Pathiraja (Community College of Baltimore County Assistant Professor of Biology) for receiving the “Best CCBC Research Paper” of 2024. The award was given by CCBC’s Teaching Learning Roundtable at the 2025 TLR Fair on January 15^th. Her winning paper, The Impact of Gamification on Student Engagement and Learning in Science: A Study on Team Jeopardy, was coauthored with Akshan Ranasinghe and was published in TALES’ fourth issue. The paper infused team Jeopardy in 4 different types of biology classes as a way of engaging students in content review. Do you think it led to increases in the students' quiz scores?
